Before the third year, you can choose to specialize in pediatric nursing, elderly care, or continue with general nursing to obtain a general qualification.

Duration:

  • 3 years.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma and B2-level German language proficiency.

Monthly Salary During Training:

  • Year 1: €1,341
  • Year 2: €1,402
  • Year 3: €1,503

Future Prospects:

  • Work as a specialized nurse with a starting salary of €2,920/month, increasing over time.

Vocational Training for Nursing Assistant (Ausbildung zur Pflegehilfskraft):

Program Overview:

  • This training combines theoretical lessons at a vocational or nursing school with practical training in hospitals, clinics, or care facilities. Nursing assistants support patients with personal hygiene, eating, and promoting independence. A state exam, consisting of oral, written, and practical components, concludes the program.

Requirements:

  • Basic education certificate and German language proficiency between B1 and B2.

Duration and Salary:

  • Duration: 1-2 years.
  • Post-graduation salary (from 01.05.2024): €16.50/hour (€2,640/month).
  • Post-graduation salary (from 01.07.2025): €17.35/hour (€2,776/month).
  • During training: around €1,100 before taxes (€870 after taxes).

Future Prospects:

  • Advanced training to become a specialist nurse, with the assistant training period counting towards the specialist training.
  • Work in diverse fields such as home care or hospitals.

Recognition of Nursing Degrees for Graduates from Egyptian Nursing Institutes and Colleges

Program Benefits:

  • Fully funded program with no participation fees.
  • Monthly salary during the qualification period: €1,400 net.
  • Post-completion employment contract with a salary up to €3,000/month.
  • Family reunification (spouse and children) after completing the qualification.
  • Upon obtaining the professional license (Berufserlaubnis), trainees are treated as graduates of the German vocational training system (Ausbildung).

Qualification Program Stages:

Theoretical and Practical Study:

  • First 4 months: Theoretical study at a specialized school.
  • 4-6 months: Practical training in a hospital as a nursing assistant under direct supervision.

Final Evaluation:

  • Allowed to work 10 hours per week with employer approval.
  • Full qualification for certification is recommended to build experience in Germany.

Post-Qualification Employment:

  • Trainees must work at the same hospital or care facility for two years post-qualification.

Preparatory Year

The preparatory year is essential for Egyptian students wishing to study at German universities, as it bridges the gap between the Egyptian and German high school diplomas (Abitur). It can be completed at the Goethe Institute in Cairo or in Germany and is designed for students in scientific, technical, and economic fields.

Available Specializations

Preparatory colleges offer specialized courses in the following fields:
  • M Course: For those interested in studying medicine, biology, or pharmacy.
  • T Course: For those interested in mathematics, sciences, or technology.
  • W Course: For those interested in economics or social sciences.
  • G/S Course: For those interested in humanities, arts, or social sciences.

Study Location

The preparatory year can be completed at the Goethe Institute in Cairo, with annual costs of around €5,000. However, studying in Germany is a better option linguistically and culturally.

Required Exams

At the end of the preparatory year, students must pass the FSP (Feststellungsprüfung) exam at a recognized center. The assessment test is held twice a year.

University Studies in Germany for Egyptians

Types of Universities in Germany

  • Universities: Focus on research and theory, offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees.
  • Universities of Applied Sciences (FH/HAW): Focus on practical applications and industry-related training, awarding bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
  • Art and Music Universities: Specialize in creative disciplines and offer bachelor’s, master’s, and diploma degrees.

Application and Admission

Applications are typically submitted through the central university platform or directly to some universities. Deadlines vary, with mid-July for the winter semester (starting in October) and mid-January for the summer semester (starting in April). Some programs, such as medicine, may require additional acceptance exams. Required documents include a high school diploma, proof of B1 language proficiency, and a blocked bank account.

Tuition Fees

Public universities in Germany generally do not charge tuition fees, except for administrative costs (around €250 per semester). However, private universities have significantly higher fees.

Study System

Study duration ranges from 3 to 5 years depending on the field. International students are allowed to work while studying, and many universities offer programs in English, especially in technical and scientific disciplines.

Language Requirements

The minimum language requirement for admission is B1, but some fields require C1 or C2 proficiency during the course of study.

Job Seeker Visa in Germany

The Germany Job Seeker Visa is a long-term national visa that allows individuals to search for a job or start vocational training in Germany. It grants a stay of one full year.

Eligibility for Application

Eligible applicants include those who hold a recognized university degree or have graduated from an accredited Egyptian institute (at least two years of study).

Visa Requirements

  • University or institute graduation certificate
  • German A1 level certificate or B2 level in English
  • Proof of financial resources to cover living expenses during the job search period

Language Requirements

Applicants must present an A1 German certificate issued by a recognized institute in Egypt, valid for no more than 12 months. Recognized institutes include:

  • ÖSD
However, in some cases, applicants may be eligible for the visa without German language knowledge, as certain jobs require only B2 level in English.
